Abandon
I’ve enjoyed Blake Crouch’s other works and so I picked this one up, and I suppose I regret it. Boring, poorly-paced—things only start to kick off like 60% or 70% of the way through the book—and not entertaining in the process. Sometimes the plot takes a while but the characters get you there; this was not one of those times. Maybe in part I just don’t enjoy the Old West as a setting, so I guess that’s on me. I’ll probably still read more of his work, but he’s become a better writer since this one, and come up with more compelling premises.
