Meanwhile, in Serbia

My girlfriend is Serbian, and I keep an eye on the news over there – it’s pretty tense, in the aftermath of the several wars that took place as Jugoslavia fell apart.  I feel like I have a moderate understanding of current affairs over there, and I tend to side with the current president, the Democrat Boris Tadić.

But that’s not the point. The opposition (“right-wing progressive”…?) party has apparently declared that it will not make its position on certain issues known because … someone might steal their ideas.

B92:

According to the Democrats, SNS leader Tomislav Nikolić’s statement that he does not want to state his opinion so that his opponents would not steal his ideas was “ultimate political immaturity.”

Way to look out for your country first, big guy.

There’s other, pretty good stuff in the DS’s statement. So check it out. You might learn something.

What do you think?
